What to Know Before You Go

BRMA members were the original tour guides beginning in 2004 and found that giving the B visitors a short history lesson on the significant science and engineering discoveries and developments that led to the design, construction and operation of the B Reactor enhanced the visit experience. In 2016 BRMA produced a number of videos that allow the visitor to review this material at their leisure before their visit and these videos are as follows.

The “Introduction to B Reactor Tour” is a series of short messages from BRMA members who were officers of BRMA at the time the videos were created in 2016. Although these members are no longer serving as officers, the messages they present are still helpful in the visitors understanding of B Reactor.

If you want to refresh your memory about atoms, electrons, protons, ions and isotopes, or if you are one of our younger visitors who haven’t been exposed to this material, you can first take advantage of “A is for Atom” before you move on to the other videos. We then suggest going to “History”, then to “Inside B”, and finally to the virtual model. If you move from one video to another while the first video is still playing you need to first pause the video you are leaving to prevent two voice overs at the same time.

All the videos are best seen in full screen which you can access after you start the video by clicking your cursor on the lower right corner position. To make sure you are viewing a video from the beginning, move your cursor to the bottom of the video to access the red line and red dot showing you the position that the video is playing at. If the red dot is away from the left corner start position, you can use your cursor to move it back to the left side starting position.
